went to church today, but i overslept so was late, well its okay la... haha!! after church, Joel and i were trying to get a ticket to mama mia for me, rush down to esplanade to book. initially, expect the tix to be hundred over, the last 2 seat available, but to our surprise as a student i got it at half the price and the seat that i got is wonderful, what more can i request for. Wow! anyway, went for lunch and watch the show.
the show was full of energy, the songs, the dance and the act. Wow! Hilarious and simply amazing, catch it while its around. Especially the lead female actress, beautiful voice, very clear and pure. The cast sing and dance with energy, and love the story line even tho its a typical romance cum family storyline with lots of twist. Hahaaa... grand finale, saw the audience were on their feet dancing away to the music of ABBA. LoLz.. will i watch again if i have a chance? definitely.. YES!!!
Great seats, great show. A musical that i never forget!
Thank you for the music!

near perfect
weekend has passed, and it was a interesting one. well... it all started out on friday afternoon. Dreads, sitting in EP for 2 hours listening to 9 groups of presentation where 8 of them covered on the same photographer. ouch! my ear hurts.. by the end of the lesson, the history of the photographer is drilled into my head. Lolz... Basically after that went down to queensway shopping centre with joel, both of us shopping for a backpack, and i am also looking for a camping bag, saw a few but still undecided yet. passing by clarke quay on the way to town, we remember that there is a music shop there, selling instruments, so decided to get off and visit the shop, but its close, went back later in the evening, wow... i am stunned by the large amount of instruments, new and old. Negotiating for my french horn, Holten of course, think i will get it soon. anyway, joel and i play around with the instruments, and the shop owner doesn't seem to care.. hahaa.. think he trust us in handling the instruments, we are musicians. fun fun.. going back there some time soon.
Saturday, OOP walkthrough, also OOP dateline, well i didn't manage to complete the assignment, there is still some errors in the coding but can't solve the error, programming is really not my forte. oh well, think i should be able to pass. God Bless. Band was rather "interesting", i am suffering from headache due to lack of sleep and the trumpets were screaming into my ears throughout the practice, ouch! Became the tuner of the section, LoLz, Mr Tan was using me to tune the other horns. following that, went to music essential to hunt for scores, manage to find the beethoven sonata which was played by one of the masterclass student. happenly, it was one of my grade8 horn piece, so i bought it. oh yah, i decided to take grade 8 for french horn next year. Eager to try out. LoLz. Wish me luck.
Sunday, stayed at home, didn't want to go to church, and also decided not to go clarke quay to test out the horn. jus want to stay at home. evening went to my grandparents's place to collect my medicine, had dinner there and went home. I should say, ever since my uncle, Ben Tan and family left to korea, weekends at pasir ris is rather cold. my uncles n family seldom go there now. when i was there, uncle patrick when to pick up food for his family and gave me a ride home. i didn't stay there for more than an hour. Miss those days where everyone was there, makes the weekends a lively place to be with all the small kids around. things are not going to be the same...
Today, piano lesson, was late again, 2nd time in a row. Well, did jazz again and the third piece for my piano grade 8 exams. fun fun fun. except got irritated by this primary school kid on the way there, rudeness rule his mind, it seems kids of the same race are like that, i am not being racist. more like its a cultural thing. had supper with joel and happen to saw jefferson at Bt Panjang plaza. chat while eating and now sitting here blogging away. oh! and i didn't go to school today.

masterclass
attended horn masterclass yesterday. basically, nothing to much to comment about the masterclass. Barry Tuckwell focus more on the perfomance aspect of playing the horn. Certainly he went into details of the concerto's and sonata's played by the 3 hornist. Its something like what goes on every piano lesson now where my piano teacher will sit beside me and go into detail bar by bar of my exam pieces. other than that, learned nothing much, mostly were taught by Miss Tan during secondary school days, more or less a refresher course for me. Was hoping that tuckwell will go into technical aspect of playing but didn't. He mention is a One to One thing, what works well on one player might not work well on the others. which is one point i could agree on. but at least a little something general on horn playing pls... haha! lesson over.
one thing about this masterclass, i was paying much attention to the pianist other than the horn. LoLz.. the pianist is good.. very good. haha! gotta prac on my piano more, technic is getting no where now, lack of time to practice. But i like one thing, is the 2 jazz piece i have to work on now. like jazz alot, but still J.S Bach and Beethoven are my favourites. why work on jazz? well, my piano teacher mention of jazz gaining popularity in sight reading, so she is preparing me for it which i don't think i have much of a problem handling it. haha!

take aim.... fire!
Wooooohhh!!!! check it out, i fired a M-16 rifle! hahahaha.... exciting it was, and a experience that i never forget. 3 out of 5 rounds hit the target. not bad for a starter, will shoot more when i get enlisted into army. hahaaa... i missed the first 2 as i am trying to concentrate and get used to firing amid the loud sound of explosion around me. Didn't know that the sound of a rifle being fired could really throw my head off. well... its someone beside me fired his rifle and the explosive sound pushed my head off the rifle. how is it being done? Soundwaves of course. While i triggered the third round, no bullet came out, something's wrong with the rifle. the safety officer took charge and pass the magazine (container of bullets) to another officer which allow me to finish off my remaining 3 rounds. took aim again, and woah la! all 3 hit the target. Nice........ (FYI: All rounds are blanks!)
Results from firing: Me - 3 rounds
Father - 2 rounds
Brother - 1 rounds
Definitely made the right choice to tag along with my family to the army open house. too bad didn't get to see the display of firepower by the armour vehicles, next year i guess. And if possible i would like to try night firing. Sure looks cool with the tracer rounds. Okie, falling out! Keluar Baris... tata!!!
